Nautilus hosts RI MADE kickoff event

Nautilus Defense was honored to serve as the host of the Rhode Island Manufacturing to Accelerate the Defense Ecosystem (RI MADE) program kickoff event. The goal of this program is to strengthen Ocean State manufacturers by providing cybersecurity, automation and robotics, and risk mitigation support. Funded by the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation (OLDCC), RI MADE provides tailored support to manufacturers within the Defense Supply Chain with technical and/or capital assistance.

Nautilus would like to thank Polaris MEP, the University of Rhode Island Research Foundation, local, state, and federal leaders, and members of the Rhode Island defense manufacturing community who were in attendance.

Congressman Cicilline highlights RI manufacturing sector at Nautilus

Congressman David Cicilline visited Nautilus Defense on March 14th, 2022 where he highlighted how the Made in America Manufacturing Communities Act will help grow manufacturing in Rhode Island and strengthen its economy. Nautilus’ Chief Operating Officer Rob Raymond said, “Nautilus Defense is fortunate to be part of a dedicated coalition of partners focused on expanding advanced manufacturing in Rhode Island. As a small business, our close partnerships with the University of Rhode Island, Polaris MEP, 401 Tech Bridge, and others are key enablers of our company's development and growth. Representative Cicilline’s efforts highlight the importance of these partnerships and in supporting small businesses that are primed to scale up operations. Nautilus-URI partnership enables deep sea sensor deployment

Working in close partnership with URI’s Undersea Robotics and Imaging Lab (URIL), Nautilus Defense has developed novel fiber optic microtethers for use within URIL’s Fiber Optic Reel System (FOReeLS). This system presents a low-cost, small size, weight, power solution for the deployment of live-telemetry undersea sensing systems.

401 Tech Bridge Materials Innovation Challenge award

Nautilus Defense has been selected as one of three winners of the 401 Tech Bridge Materials Innovation Challenge. Materials Innovation Challenge funding will enable URI researchers at the Dynamic Photomechanics Lab and the Multiscale and Multiphysics Mechanics of Materials Research Laboratory to perform electromechanical characterization and computational modeling of Nautilus’ novel multifunctional textile systems, which will help to strengthen the company’s offerings to defense and commercial markets.
